(303) Get-Trad

Find these two big, steep banks that face each other in the middle of the rocky mountains, near a high altitude lake (reservoir). I hiked in, about 3 miles, but it looked like a mediocre 4x4 could make it up colorado 103 to the spot, depending on whether it is open to trucks. To hike in, start at Echo lake on highway 103. Head around the east side of the lake, and you will see a sign for "Chicago Lakes Trail" on the right. Just follow that trail till you hit the reservoir (about 2 miles). The national forest starts just a few hundred yards up so you can camp at will. It is a great place for photos with the lake and rockies in the background. Head up a little further for the chicago lakes and good fishing. Brought to you courtesy of T-rad.
